Village deploys coding agents to track the signals investors care about and surface when they inflect or correlate.

It's like a 24/7 personal data team for every analyst. The long tail of alternative data that only the best-resourced teams could track before, now available to any investor.

About the role

Village builds software that turns investors’ research questions into continuously running data applications. We also build customer applications and take on software-enabled research projects, all of which need to be explained clearly and accurately.

As our Technical Publications Writer, you’ll own how customers, developers, and our team understand the platform, the software we build, and the research it produces.

You’ll work closely with engineers and customers to turn code, data workflows, analytical methods, and product behavior into useful documentation. You’ll also write the structured instructions — internally called agent skills — that teach our AI developer agents how to use tools and explain the applications they generate.

This is a hands-on writing role for someone who enjoys learning complex systems, creating order from ambiguity, and setting the documentation standards for an early product.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, write, edit, and maintain end-user documentation for the Village platform and the applications we build for customers, including onboarding guides, tutorials, walkthroughs, FAQs, and knowledge-base content
  • Explain what customer-facing software does and how its components, data models, data flows, integrations, configuration, and operational behavior work
  • Translate source code, technical specifications, and engineering input into material that technical and non-technical readers can understand and use
  • Create and maintain agent skills: structured instructions that teach Village’s AI developer agents how and when to use software tools, including inputs, outputs, workflows, examples, constraints, failure modes, and troubleshooting
  • Write clear explanations of customer research and data analysis, including the questions examined, data sources, methodology, transformations, assumptions, limitations, findings, and implications
  • Build and evolve our documentation system — information architecture, style guide, templates, editorial standards, update processes, and quality criteria
  • Create diagrams, annotated screenshots, tables, and data visualizations that make the documentation easier to understand

You may be a fit if

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or a closely related field
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills, with samples that show how you make complex software or analytical work clear
  • The ability to understand software behavior and data workflows by reading code and specifications and interviewing engineers, researchers, and customers
  • Strong information-organization and content-design judgment
  • Comfort working across changing products, tools, and customer projects in an early-stage company
  • Curiosity about AI agents and how structured documentation can make them more reliable

Nice to have

  • Experience documenting software products, developer tools, APIs, data platforms, or AI systems
  • Experience with docs-as-code, version control, or structured-content systems
  • Experience creating instructions, examples, or evaluation materials for AI agents
  • Familiarity with financial research, data analysis, diagramming, or data visualization
